Jurgen Klopp namechecks youngsters "looking really good" in Liverpool training

Jurgen Klopp has name checked several youngsters who have impressed in training recently as he faces an injury crisis.

Liverpool go into Sunday evening's Premier League clash against leaders Leicester City at Anfield with a growing list of sidelined players.

Several youngsters have been called up to train with the first team in light of the recent setbacks following the international break.

Mohamed Salah is self-isolating with Covid-19, while captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out.

Rhys Williams, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho are also doubts to play, meaning Curtis Jones is in line to add to his five starts this season.

Nat Phillips and Neco Williams are expected to cover at the back again - and Klopp has praised their efforts in stepping in to fill some huge shoes.

"It's very important but there is still some distance between us and the U23s,” he said. “They cannot play exactly as we do for many reasons.

"The boys know before they arrive for our training what we want them to do. Those that have come up so far have been incredible.

"Nat and Rhys played an excellent game. Curtis is the best example. We are blessed with a lot of talent."

Klopp then went on to namecheck five other youngsters who he has been impressed with in recent weeks.

“[Luis] Longstaff, [Paul] Glatzel, Leighton Clarkson, Jake Cain, they look sensationally well,” the German added.

“Billy [Koumetio] is back as well after all the little, big issues he had.”

Young goalkeepers Vitezslav Jaros, Marcelo Pitaluga and Jakub Ojrzynski were also pictured training with the first team in the build up to the Leicester clash.
