Jurgen Klopp makes new January transfer statement after Liverpool's defeat by Burnley

Jurgen Klopp insists the decision to sign new players is out of his hands following Liverpool's defeat by relegation-threatened Burnley.

The Reds are on a very poor run of form by their usual high standards and haven't won in the Premier League since December 19.

Liverpool, who drew 0-0 with Manchester United on the weekend, were expected to bounce back at home against Burnley on Thursday night.

But it was Sean Dyche's Clarets who came out on top against Klopp's side.

Liverpool have struggled with injuries this season, and Klopp was asked whether he will now look to bring in new signings to help turn things around.

Klopp said: "These decisions are not my decisions. If somebody thinks we should do something [they will decide]," Klopp said, following the defeat to Burnley.

"I cannot decide if we do something in the transfer window or not, that must be clear. But that's not something I'm thinking about.

"It's just we can, with this group, play much better football – that's my concern, that's what I'm thinking about."

He added: "Their confidence is not on the highest level, I think that's so obvious I don't have to mention it. You can see it in specific moments.

"It's like 90 percent of all the boys did all the time is still there, but the decisive 10 percent is missing in the moment.

"So now we have to work on this decisive 10 percent. That's how it is. We always work on it, but now we dig a little bit deeper to get it back."
