Jurgen Klopp makes Mohamed Salah prediction as Sadio Mane's Liverpool performances are assessed

Here is your Liverpool evening digest for Tuesday, September 14.

Klopp makes Salah prediction

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Mohamed Salah ahead of the Reds' clash with AC Milan in the Champions League.

Salah was on the scoresheet once again against Leeds United on Sunday, reaching a landmark 100 goals in the Premier League.

The Egyptian was brought to the club by Klopp and has gone on to establish himself as a Liverpool icon. And while there is plenty of talk around Salah signing a new contract at Anfield at the moment, Klopp said he thinks the forward can stay at the top level for a long time yet, like Lionel Messi has done.

"I've never spoken to Mo about how long he wants to play, but he has all the things you need to do that", he said.

"He is more physically the type of Lionel Messi, obviously, similar height and weight, probably, so all these guys need to be lucky with the injuries. They were not without injuries but they could always come back from that without any further harm. That is very important."

Mane tipped for big things

The Senegal international missed a number of chances before he slotted Liverpool's third goal of the game.

Josh Williams has taken a look at Mane's campaign so far and complimented the shot-heavy forward for an all-action performance against Leeds.

Wijnaldum provides more detail on Liverpool exit

Georginio Wijnaldum is part of a Paris Saint-Germain squad tipped to go far in the Champions League this season following the arrival of Messi.

The Dutch international left Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer and has said the Reds did not want to keep him for the 2021-22 season and beyond.

"A few months ago, I wanted to stay at Liverpool, but without going into the details, I didn’t get the feeling they wanted to keep me," he said.

"In these cases, you have to move forward. Barcelona came up. I was keen on the idea of signing for Barcelona. But the negotiations lasted a while and eventually PSG came forward."
