Jurgen Klopp makes Liverpool goal celebration vow for Man Utd clash

Jurgen Klopp concedes not celebrating a goal is a "proper challenge" but maintains Liverpool players will do what they can come Sunday.

The Reds host Manchester United in a top of the table clash at Anfield.

It is a game that has always heightened emotions due to the rivalry between the sides and their league positions will only serve to amplify that.

United are currently top of the pile - three points ahead of Liverpool.

Much of the talk this week though has centred around the responsibility of footballers during the lockdown.

Elite sport has been allowed to continue but there are growing calls from Government officials to see less contact between players.

One area that has been highlighted is the mass hugging and coming together for celebrations.

Klopp has praised how his players have conducted themselves during the pandemic but has emphasised that emotions run high.

He said: "We will just try [to tone it down]. We all know the situation. The boys so far have done an incredible job to be disciplined with all the things around the virus.

"They will do their best if there is hopefully something to celebrate. It's difficult."

"When you run alone towards the goal and have the opportunity to score and in next situation you have to think about what you do next, it's a proper challenge.

"Football is an emotional game. These players are tested 3 times a week."

The German's words have already been echoed by the manager who will be in the opposing dugout on Sunday - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The United boss is fully aware of the responsibility placed on them while also acknowledging the challenges players face.

"It's an emotional game, football, but we have to understand the players when they celebrate, " he said.

"But we also understand the concern nowadays for a bit of less emotion and less hugging.

"But it's difficult, I have to say. Football brings out the best and the worst in you. When you score you want to celebrate with your teammates.
