Jurgen Klopp makes huge Liverpool claim ahead of West Ham and Arsenal games

Jurgen Klopp has claimed that his Liverpool team "don't really train anymore" amid the Reds' hectic fixture schedule.

Liverpool face West Ham United on Sunday afternoon before they welcome Arsenal to Anfield after the international break on November 20.

Klopp has, in the past, been very vocal about the hectic fixture schedule and has criticised authorities for not allowing his players much time on the training ground to prepare in between matches.

The Reds, following the last international break, have played six games - in all competitions - in 16 days, and Klopp has now admitted that his side have been deprived of their usual training routine.

"It's not possible to keep the players fresh, the schedule is against us, you need luck, we actually don't really train anymore, we just recover," the German coach said after Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 on Wednesday evening in the Champions League.

"The boys who played tonight, they recover until we play West Ham, the boys who didn't play, they train a little bit, that's clear, but when you play in this rhythm it's pretty much impossible to keep team fresh, you just fight through."

The Irons have won their last three matches in the Premier League with their most recent three points coming against Aston Villa at the weekend. David Moyes has guided his side into the top four as they look to go one better than last season and secure Champions League football.

Meanwhile, Arsenal, who travel to Liverpool later this month, in their first game after the international break, will be hoping they can get past Watford successfully at the weekend and bring their momentum to Anfield.

The two London clubs will be hoping Klopp's admission about the lack of training will give them a boost in their upcoming fixtures.

It's not the first time Klopp has complained about the congested fixture schedule, with the Reds boss saying this back in January of last year.

He said: “I told what I had to say to UEFA personally, I told FIFA sometimes in interviews because I don’t know anyone there and I don’t think the Premier League, FA or Football League are in any doubt of my opinion.

“I just do that not because of me but because I think someone has to speak for the players.

“The boys last night [in the 2-0 win over Sheffield United] ran 13 kilometres—13 kilometres to win a Premier League game—and I cannot tell them ‘come on, try to run 11km so you will be fine for the next game’."
