Jurgen Klopp hints at why Darwin Nunez has not been starting for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has hinted why he's left Darwin Nunez out of Liverpool's starting XI in recent weeks.

The Uruguayan came off the bench to score in their 6-1 victory over Leeds United on Monday night, but the trip to Elland Road was the third time the striker found himself utilised as a substitute from the Reds last four games.

Having missed the March international break with an ankle injury, it had originally been thought that the 23-year-old was being managed carefully following such a setback. But after returning to the starting XI against Chelsea earlier this month, Nunez again found himself on the bench against Arsenal and Leeds.

Liverpool manager gives update on Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho situations

Jurgen Klopp has explained the current Liverpool situations for Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho following their spells out of the starting XI.

The two former Fulham prospects have had differing roles so far this term. Elliott had, previously, been ever-present in the squad before recently enduring a spell away.

Carvalho, meanwhile, had made 11 appearances in the Premier League prior to the World Cup showcase - but since returning from the enforced break, he has featured once in a two-minute cameo during the latter stages of the defeat against Bournemouth.
