Jurgen Klopp makes claim on Frank Lampard rivalry ahead of Liverpool's clash with Chelsea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that there is no rivalry between he and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

The duo will come face to face on Sunday at Stamford Bridge with both sides hoping to pick up their second Premier League wins of the season.

Lampard recently stated that Klopp's comments about Chelsea's transfer window spending were "slightly amusing", after the Liverpool boss had stated that his club were taking a different route to those "owned by countries and oligarchs".

However, the Premier League-winning manager insists that there is no rivalry bubbling away under the surface between he and his Chelsea counterpart, and that it is all a figment of the media's imagination.

"No rivalry," Klopp told reporters. "You should stop reading newspapers!

"I don't get that. When you ask me, I answer and everyone takes it the way they want. You all make a story.

"You say I made a story about the 'transfer behaviour of Chelsea'. You create rivalry between us. Why?"

Chelsea will be without new arrival Hakim Ziyech for the clash at Stamford Bridge as the former Ajax star continues his comeback from injury.

Christian Pulisic is also a doubt for the fixture after being left out of the Premier League opener against Brighton, but could be among the squad.

Ben Chilwell could possibly make his debut for the club after returning to training, as well as Thiago Silva following his free transfer from PSG this summer.
