Jurgen Klopp lifts lid on Andy Robertson row as left-back prepares for milestone

Jurgen Klopp has paid a special tribute to Andy Robertson…by revealing a ferocious bust-up between the pair!

Robertson will make his 100th Premier League appearance for the Reds against Sheffield United in an Anfield career that has already elevated him alongside some of the club’s all-time best players in his position.

And Klopp had a huge grin on his face as he explained the Scotland captain’s fire and passion makes him a joy to work with…even if it can be explosive.

“Great! Mr Robertson, 100 Premier League games for Liverpool - if I go right back to when he arrived here it’s a wonderful story, and he has really established himself (at the top level),” the manager said.

“I really, really like him as a person, and I really working with him because he’s a brilliant character and a super player.

“I think we had a few words on the touchline in Amsterdam - I was shouting at him like a devil and Robbo’s character is he can not hold completely back to (not) respond!

“But he is like me as well, the game is over and it’s all fine, so long as you keep yourself together, so it’s all good.”

That incident came at the end of the game against Ajax as Liverpool held onto an important victory.

And Klopp revealed some amusing details of the barney, as he insisted Robertson’s character will be vital part to Liverpool…as they prepare to entertain Sheffield United without their talisman.

“Do I like it, when they respond? It’s not a conversation usually! In this game it was not about exchanging information, it was about actually kicking their ass that they go for it,” he explained.

"Robbo got a proper proper knock on his chest so it was difficult to breathe. And human beings are like this, you feel a bit sorry for yourself or self pity, and someone needs to tell you ‘you call talk about that after the final whistle’. And that was my job.

“Unfortunately Robbo was pretty much next to me. And yeah, so I shout at him as loud as I shout to Shaqiri on the other side of the pitch, and obviously it was then different (and he reacted)!”

Klopp revealed some important news that THREE big names could return against Sheffield United, with keeper Alisson joining Thiago and Joel Matip back in training, but he will wait to see their reaction before decided if they play on Saturday.
