Jurgen Klopp issues strong warning to his Liverpool side ahead of Tottenham clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his side that they will be facing a Tottenham team who will be out “to improve their situation” at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides meet in a repeat of last season’s Champions League final  for the first time since the Reds claimed a 2-0 win in Madrid in June.

Klopp’s side are unbeaten in the Premier League so far this season, having claimed eight wins and one draw in their opening nine games.

While Spurs have endured an indifferent start to their season, although they did return to winning ways with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

And Klopp believes he saw signs of Mauricio Pochettino's side returning to their best in midweek.

"I don't understand 100% what happened," the Liverpool manager told Sky Sports when asked about Spurs’ start to the season.

"What I saw now during the week, it was Spurs how they can be as well.

"That's the team we are preparing for, we cannot prepare for a team that was struggling maybe three or four weeks ago.

“We need to be intense in that game, 100%, because playing a little bit against Tottenham will not be enough.

"They want to strike back, they want to improve their situation, we won the Champions League final against them."
