Jurgen Klopp includes three Liverpool youngsters in Champions League final squad

Jurgen Klopp has included Tyler Morton, Rhys Williams and Owen Beck in his Liverpool squad to face Real Madrid this Saturday at the Stade de France, Paris.

The Reds will have the chance to win their second Champions League title in three years and underline themselves as one of the biggest clubs in Europe once again. Standing in their way are the most successful club to have ever taken part in the competition, though.

With 19 European cups between them - 13 at the Bernabeu and six at Anfield - this is a chance for Liverpool to draw level with AC Milan on seven titles while there is already drama brewing. Mohamed Salah has spoken out on the need to claim his revenge for 2019, which has drawn criticism from the Madrid corner.

If Liverpool do land victory, it will be the third trophy of the season having already won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Klopp will no doubt have an idea on who will be starting this Saturday.

But he has also made some surprising choices with academy starlets Morton, Williams and Beck all included in the squad that will jet off to Paris this weekend. Whether they get a chance is another matter but there are some injuries concerns for Klopp to contend with.

Thiago Alcantara was forced off on the final day of the Premier League season with an Achilles problem against Wolves and has been undergoing intensive treatment. It throws his availability up in the air this weekend.

Fabinho took part in training this week but missed the last three matches through injury while Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have both had issues recently as well. However, all three are expected to be fit to face Real Madrid.

Klopp has always looked kindly on his young stars and he will know how important Williams was during their injury crisis last year when Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip were all out. The centre-back made 19 appearances in 2020/21 and helped the Reds finish clinch a top-four spot, making his impact integral to this weekend's match.

Morton featured in the group stage earlier this season, playing full matches against Porto and AC Milan as a holding midfielder. In both games, Liverpool won comfortably as they finished the group with six wins out of six.

Klopp is a big fan of the 19-year-old, who also played in the earlier rounds of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup on their way to glory in those competitions. Beck is another that has the attention of coaches at Melwood but has had considerably less first-team action with just 11 minutes in the Carabao Cup this year.

Nevertheless, these are just three of the talented youngsters coming through the ranks at Liverpool. Their Under-23s finished fourth in the Premier League 2 this year and contains the likes of Kaide Gordon, Leighton Clarkson and Mateusz Musialowski - all of whom have been tipped to have great futures.
