Jurgen Klopp identifies 'forgotten' Liverpool moment that save Reds from defeat against Everton

Jurgen Klopp believes Alisson Becker underlined his status as a world-class goalkeeper with the save that spared Liverpool derby defeat.

The Reds moved to within five points of the Premier League title when they resumed the campaign with a hard-earned goalless draw at Everton on Sunday evening.

The Blues could have earned victory in the closing moments when Alisson saved superbly from Dominic Calvert-Lewin before Tom Davies then pulled the rebound against the far post.

The game was Alisson’s first since February having missed Liverpool’s last three matches with a hip problem before the season was suspended on March 13.

And Klopp admitted the goalkeeper was the reason the Reds were able to extend their 10-year unbeaten record against their neighbours.

“I saw only the chance, I saw the save but I’ve already forgotten it,” said the Reds boss. “So that says most that I can say about him.

“We take him for granted? We should not, no. Absolutely outstanding.

“It was a difficult game for a goalkeeper. The ball was much more on the field than in his hands.

“That’s what a world-class goalie is. Nothing to do for almost 90 minutes pretty much and then in one second he has to be there.

“And he was there. Obviously it saved us a point – and it wasn’t the first one.”
