Jurgen Klopp hits back at Geoff Shreeves amid heated discussion on Liverpool title hopes

Jurgen Klopp hit back at Sky Sports presenter Geoff Shreeves in a feisty exchange after being quizzed on Liverpool's title hopes.

The Reds sit seven points behind Manchester City, having also played a game extra, ahead of Sunday's important match at Anfield.

Liverpool have lost their last two matches at home after previously maintaining a 68-game unbeaten record and have struggled for form in 2021, winning four times in eight matches.

Despite sitting fourth in the Premier League table and suffering from inconsistent form, Klopp was quizzed on whether he believes Liverpool can still win the Premier League title, a topic that Reds boss has discussed multiple times.

Klopp took exception to the line of questioning, confused the by the intense focus on his team's hopes of retaining the league trophy.

"Is it still possible," Shreeves asked.

"I really can't believe..I don't understand you, honestly," Klopp replied.

"The only thing you want to talk about, all the time, is us becoming champion.

"Can you imagine 'have you ever been the best sports commentator in the world, do you think it's still possible'? Just try it, give it a go. We try but if I say it's possible or it's not possible then we have another headline.

"Why do we do that? Let's talk about the situation, if you're not interested then I don't understand we talk. I'm not angry at all, I just don't understand why the whole interview goes about us becoming champions again."

Shreeves responded: "You answer the question however you... you could have said 'look, in this season, anything is possible'."

"But that's clear!" Klopp exclaimed.

"It's clear, it's always anything is possible, why should I say the obvious stuff? 'Yes, anything is possible always in this wonderful life and country'. It's not true!

"It's not anything possible always but in football probably yes. So yes, anything is possible."
