Jurgen Klopp hints at what he noticed about Thiago Alcantara that helped him make up mind

Liverpool have completed the £26million signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

The Spaniard has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Anfield giants, and will sport the number six shirt this season.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been waxing lyrical about the new signing, and interestingly hinted at what it was about Thiago that really impressed him - the fact he was really on board with his project.

"Great! Absolutely great. I'm really happy that it finally worked out and we could just do it," said Klopp. "It's very exceptional because in our situation, a lot of people around us talk constantly – 'What are you doing?' – bam, bam, bam.

"Then preparing something like this, working on all different things you have to work in a transfer like this – with thinking about a player like him already is a joy, to be honest, because it gives us obviously some options.

"Then you get in contact with the boy and then you realise, OK, he obviously likes this project as well pretty much, even before he is here, which was really nice.

"I learned more and more about him as a person; the player I knew before, the person I learned.

"So I'm really happy to bring this wonderful person in as an add-on to the squad, which is just good for football reasons – but for all the other reasons as well. So, yeah, absolutely happy that he's here."

Klopp has previously spoken about holding private chats with players before signing them to ensure they are on board with his project.

"When we have this agreement, everything was fine, everything was good, that's why we talked, that's why we signed you, but from now on I expect much more," Klopp told Liverpool club media.

"For that, he gets more than he ever got before; more attention, more education, hopefully better training – that's a clear agreement.

"If he is not happy with one of these parts, he can come to me and tell me, 'You told me that, it didn't happen'.

"If I am not happy with one of the things he agreed, I will go to him and tell him, 'You said this and that, you didn't do that – why?' This is a clear deal, but a handshake deal, not written down."
