Jurgen Klopp hints at Liverpool transfer regret as he reflects on outgoings

Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool are missing the presence of Georginio Wijnaldum - on and off the pitch.

The Dutch midfielder signed for Paris Saint-Germain this summer as a free agent after turning down a contract extension from the Anfield club.

Wijnaldum was a regular under Klopp as they won the Champions League and the Premier League.

And the Reds boss concedes his exit has been a huge loss for his side, as well as his leadership inside the dressing room.

"Gini Wijnaldum played for us an incredible amount of games - a top, top, top player. I have watched him for PSG. When we look back on our games against Chelsea, we see Gini running around. We miss him in the dressing room as well."

Will Liverpool make any late moves in the transfer window? Comment below

Klopp poured cold water on any potential last gasp signings with the window closing next week.

He added: "Do I expect a busy four days for us? Not really to be 100 per cent honest, but you never know.

"That’s how it is. The options didn’t get worse for some teams, that’s clear.

"But in the end, I said it a couple of times before, there are so many different reasons to win a football game and so many different ways to win a football game and it’s not all about bringing in new players and all this kind of stuff."

Klopp is frustrated it's almost forgotten that Liverpool signed a top-quality defender in Ibrahima Konate earlier in the summer.

He said: "Again, it’s a little bit disappointing that I always have to mention that we brought in Ibou Konate who was not a bargain or whatever, he cost money as well."

Klopp insists he doesn't take any notice of the speculation surrounding his rival clubs as both Manchester clubs are linked with big names like Cristiano Ronaldo.

He added: "Look, I have really no time to look at other clubs. Of course, I see the news and all that stuff when they sign a player, but I really have no time to think then, ‘How can they line up, what can they do?’.

"When we play them, we think about that and I think that’s enough."
