Jurgen Klopp highlights "mad" moment which made him shout at Liverpool side when 4-0 up

Liverpool put in a stunning display to thrash second placed Leicester 4-0 at the King Power Stadium - but manager Jurgen Klopp still sees room for improvement.

And he has revealed how he was unable to enjoy the closing stages of the game even after it was over as a contest.

Trent Alexander-Arnold fired in their final goal in the 78th minute, capping off a dramatic, seven-minute spell in which they scored three times to put the game to bed.

But the German boss was left screaming instructions at his side from the touchline as he branded their inability to keep the ball and conserve energy as "mad".

They face a quick turnaround before hosting Wolves on Sunday after a hectic spell, winning the Club World Cup in Qatar last week.

Klopp told Amazon Prime Video: "In the last 10 minutes, in this part of the season, you don't have a situation often where the game is pretty much decided.

"At 3-0 it was, at 4-0 it was 100%. I don't know exactly when we scored, but I think there were 10 minutes to go plus extra-time, so 13 minutes.

"But we were still sprinting and I thought, 'wow, how mad is that?'

"So I was really shouting out there, just wanted to keep the ball, so Leicester didn't attack us.

"There are a lot of things we have to improve - how we can manage the game in those situations, how we can play football, how we defended in the first half.

"There are so many things we have to work on."

Despite Klopp seeing room for improvement, star man Alexander-Arnold felt it was their best performance of the season in the circumstances.

He told Amazon: “We played really good football after all the travelling and intense period, yes it is the best performance of the season and we controlled it, to get four goals is something to be proud of.

“I don’t get on the scoresheet too often. I saw the space from Sadio Mane’s pass and thought ‘hit it first time’.. Good to get the goals the three points is what we came for. We are made up.

“You don’t really think you will be 13 points but we are happy to be in this position and we will take it for granted. This is the Premier League and anything can happen.”
