Jurgen Klopp is aiming to bounce back from a disappointing, trophy-less campaign last time out and place Liverpool back in the title race alongside Chelsea and both Manchester Clubs.
Klopp is working on a shoestring budget in comparison to the aforementioned trio, with Man City's record-breaking £100m signing Jack Grealish worth around two and a half times more than the Reds entire window.
This summer transfer window passed by with little to note for Liverpool, their only addition coming in the form of ex- RB Leipzig central defender Ibrahima Konate who cost £36m - a bargain considering the 22-year-old's experience at the highest level of European football.
However, much of the Anfield faithful were crying out for further additions, though the only activity that was seen following Konate's arrival came in the form of outgoings, Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri both calling time on their Liverpool careers.
Just the one signing leaves Klopp with it all to do this season if he is to restore the club to the kind of glories they saw in 2019 & 2020, winning the Champions League and Premier League respectively.
As the famous attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all slowly pass their peak, all three aged 29, the Liverpool side that won the league title in 2019/20 - ending a three decade drought in the process, feels like it is approaching the end of its cycle.
With that being said, the new season has started promising enough for Klopp's men, who currently sit fifth on seven points after three games played.
The most recent of which came at Anfield against potential rivals Chelsea, where Liverpool shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw after they failed to break down a resilient Blues side who played much of the contest a man short after Reece James' first half red card.
Following the game, Manchester United legend Gary Neville made some eyebrow-raising comments over life at Anfield at the moment, the Old Trafford fan favourite claiming not all is well.
"I was at the game on Saturday, Liverpool vs Chelsea, and I said after the game – sometimes you can’t put your finger on it but something’s not right,” Neville told the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel.
"Not bad. There’s no massive spirit issue, or the manager falling out with players. Nothing like that. But there is something just missing.
Where will Liverpool finish this season? Have your say here.

"I remember going three years ago and thinking 'United are in trouble'. Two years ago thinking, 'we are in serious trouble'. Klopp's not got that money [to improve the side]. He’s having to deal with a team who are a good team, but look like the team that needed a boost.
"There are no massive problems at Liverpool. I’m not saying it is broken. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
"But I don’t think they have got the momentum with them at this moment. They are just plateauing. I’m not sure Liverpool can get to first. I don’t think they will get above United this year."
