Liverpool were left with a familiar problem to work their way around for much of the night against Arsenal, until they decided to just bulldoze through it.
Because while the absences of the Reds' key defenders have made the headlines for much of the season, it was the December injury to Diogo Jota which completely derailed Liverpool's ability to cover for the losses by attacking their way to success.
During these last three, largely miserable months, we've often seen the tried, tested and often terrific front three's status as a group questioned, as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have seen their form and focus fixated upon.
But really all they've needed is a bit of pepping up, not major surgery.
Jota was clearly providing that following his arrival from Wolves, with a goal-filled beginning often seeing him joining the three in attack and not replacing one of them.
Because back in November that was the big question. Firmino or Jota? Which camp were you in?
When Jurgen Klopp surprised us all by starting both for a clash away at Manchester City, no less, it produced a performance full of attacking ideas, and gave credence to idea that Jota was an addition to the three and not a replacement for one of them. Liverpool's famed attack 2.0.
Of course we've never really been able to see just what the planned evolution of Liverpool was for this season because of all the injuries, but the idea of Jota as an addition to the attack would surely have been seen plenty of times in the last few months if it could be.
We might even be about to see it at Real Madrid, after Jota's brilliant cameo in scoring two goals in Saturday's 3-0 win at Arsenal.
Either way the Portuguese will surely start the game, as right now Klopp can't really afford to leave him out.
