Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre says he held talks with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp over becoming their new manager.
The Catalan club have been thrown into crisis by their latest Champions League humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Both manager Quique Setien and technical director Eric Abidal were sacked by president Josep Maria Bartomeu, but his term will come to an end next spring.
Farre is amongst those vying to replace him - and he says he has already sounded out Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as the man to turn around the club, despite the appointment of Ronald Koeman last week.
The Spaniard told Diario Sport : "If Koeman works and does well, he would be, of course.
"Obviously, we have our roadmap and we had already started several conversations with Jurgen Klopp, because it seems to us that Barca need such a coach."
Asked about Koeman's appointment, Farre added: "It is an exceptional moment and Koeman is a good solution considering that he is a legend of Barcelona, a benchmark.
"Because of his character, I think that was what the club needed now. I wish him the best because the challenge is huge."
Whilst Klopp is on Barcelona's radar, he has already been clear that he plans to take a year away from football when his current Liverpool contract expires in 2024.
When asked what his plans are after 2024 by German publication SportBuzzer, Klopp said: “I'll take a year off and ask myself if I miss football. If I say no, then that will be the end of coach Jurgen Klopp.
“If one day I am no longer a coach, there is one thing I will not miss: the brutal tension immediately before the game.”
However, Klopp has been tempted before.
He planned a sabbatical when he left Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2015 only for Liverpool's lure to be too tempting.
Barcelona could now pose a similar dilemma for the German as he looks to continue building his legacy as one of football's greatest ever managers.
