Jurgen Klopp has a message for 'desperate' Jose Mourinho after his return to management at Spurs

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Jose Mourinho was "desperate" to get back into football management.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager has returned to the Premier League after being appointed as the new head coach at Spurs, replacing Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.

Mourinho started work at Hotspur Way on Wednesday, meeting his players and taking his first training session ahead of the game against West Ham United tomorrow (Saturday), while he held his first press conference as Spurs head coach yesterday (Thursday).

And Klopp, whose Liverpool side beat Tottenham in the Champions League final back in June in Madrid, said it is nice to have Mourinho back in the English game.

"Welcome back Jose, haha," he said, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool's game against Crystal Palace tomorrow.

"It's nice to have him back. He was desperate, you can see that from the time he was not in."

Meanwhile, Klopp said the situation at Spurs this week was typical of how things change in football, having only faced Pochettino again at Anfield a few weeks ago in the Premier League.

"How quick things change. Five months ago played Poch in Champions League final, now he is on holiday. He did a brilliant job at Tottenham," said Klopp.
