Jurgen Klopp handed Champions League disciplinary boost as Liverpool put one foot in semi-finals

Liverpool were handed a disciplinary boost after navigating their way through their Champions League quarter-final first leg clash with FC Porto without picking up a booking.

The Reds have already seen Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson serve one-game suspensions in Europe this season after picking up three yellow cards.

A trio of bookings triggers an automatic suspension, as does every odd number of cautions thereon in, however, all yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals.

Jurgen Klopp 's side have a number of players currently on one booking, including Fabinho , Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane , but barring a red card in Portugal, the Reds will not see any players miss out on a potential semi-final clash through suspension.

In contrast, Porto will have no fewer than three players walking a disciplinary tightrope in next Wednesday's second leg at the Estadio do Dragao.

Should the Portuguese giants overturn their 2-0 first leg loss, highly-rated centre-back Eder Militao, Felipe and midfield duo Otavio and Danilo will be wary of picking up a booking which would rule them out of a semi-final first leg.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Barcelona lock horns for their quarter-final first leg on Wednesday night with the winner of their tie progressing as Liverpool or Porto's opponents in the Champions League final four.

Nelson Semedo is the only Barca player one yellow card away from suspension, with the defender having to navigate his way through both the first leg and second leg to avoid suspension.

Meanwhile, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera are all at risk of a one-game ban with the United quintet all having been shown two yellow cards in the competition so far.
