Jurgen Klopp hails "unbelievable" Alisson after Liverpool beat Watford

Jurgen Klopp paid tribute to Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker after the Brazilian was a key figure in the Reds' hard-fought 2-0 win over Watford .

Mohamed Salah scored both of the Reds' goals in the victory, as Liverpool signed off before their trip to Qatar for the Club World Cup with another win to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

But they didn;t have things all their own way at Anfield, as new Watford boss Nigel Pearson saw his side miss several chances, with Ismaila Sarr miskicking when in front of goal and Alisson repeatedly denying the Hornets.

"It was not the prettiest game but I am more than happy with that. At this stage you have to show resilience and I believe we did that today," said Klopp after a match which was played in difficult conditions.

"We have so many games but we are happy with this. Watford had their chances but we scored ours.

"We could have made the game easier for us but it’s intense to be constantly in charge of the game. We have to defend with passion not organisation sometimes and that was sometimes now right."

Klopp went on to elaborate on Watford's chances and Alisson's display.

"This time maybe now I can speak about it, but the wind helped us today from time to time – I am pretty sure Sarr would have at least would have had a finish in the situation when he didn’t hit the ball without the wind," he said.

"It made the game tricky for both sides, that’s clear, but it helps them a little bit more than us usually in those situations.

"Ali was for 85 minutes of the game really doing warm-up exercises, but in these [other] five minutes he was really important and just showed what a goalie he is; he is unbelievable and helped us a lot in these situations.

"We had to fight, that’s what we did and that’s why we won. All good."
