Jurgen Klopp declared it the "perfect night" as Liverpool sealed Carabao Cup progression to continue the feelgood factor around the club.
The Reds were still on a high from their outstanding 5-0 victory over bitter rivals Manchester United at the weekend as they overcame Championship side Preston North End 2-0 to book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The first half was a slog for Klopp's much-changed side, as they struggled to break down the hosts - who had the better chances.
But they came out roaring after the restart and goals from Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi secured a place in Saturday's quarter-final draw.
The result also extended Liverpool's unbeaten run in all competitions to 23 games - stretching back to last season - and Klopp declared himself very happy at a job well done at Deepdale.
He said: "We started quite well. Then they played long balls and they were tricky to defend. They had their moments. The game was kind of open.
"You could see we lost our structure which never helps in football, especially not tonight when you have the ball that much.
"We couldn't create too much in the first half.
"Preston played a really inspired game I would say, atmosphere was nice, no-one got injured. Perfect night!
"Especially when he played higher up the field, Neco (Williams) was good. It was really good. Before then he couldn't find the position as well.
"You could see all the boys can play so much better football but when you don't feel the game, you play a little bit too much the position and not enough the game, it looks a little bit stiff.
"We had these moments tonight. We stood in each other's way and didn't find the right spaces. I've seen games like this more often than I wanted and it can happen.
"We had to stay in the game, we defended the situations. We needed Adrian with some incredible saves in the first half and in the end, clean sheet, two goals scored, not too long a drive home. All good."
Liverpool are one of seven Premier League sides in the hat for the quarter-final draw, along with League One side Sunderland.
Klopp's side are back in league action on Saturday, when Brighton visit Anfield.
