Jurgen Klopp gives simple explanation for Liverpool's poor away record at top six sides

Jurgen Klopp gave a simple explanation for Liverpool's poor away record against top-six sides.

In his press conference this morning, the boss said: "Because they are really good. That could be one reason!"

A 2-1 win over Spurs last season is the only time Liverpool have beaten a top-six team since they last won at Stamford Bridge three years ago.

In comparison, Manchester City have won seven and Crystal Palace have managed five.

Klopp went into more detail, adding: "They have very different styles of play.

"There are different ways to win games and we have to find one.

"It is not good news obviously but I don't feel it. We have to give it a try and a lot of people said the longer things like this happen the more likely we are to change it."

Liverpool dropped points last season with draws at Manchester United and Arsenal but Klopp said this was also down to the good performance of their opponents.

The boss said: "We were unlucky in moments but it was also the good performance of our opponents.

"United last year was not a thrilling game but we could have won it.  We cannot go to Chelsea and guarantee to win the game there as they are too strong.

"It's not written in the stars that we are not allowed to win away against Chelsea but it's still difficult."

Chelsea have dropped points in their opening two home games, drawing with Leicester City and Sheffield United after taking the lead in both matches.
