Jurgen Klopp fires warning to Liverpool squad after Manchester City lose to PSG

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will need a "complex and complete performance" to beat Manchester City on Sunday.

But the Reds boss admits he cannot wait to host Pep Guardiola's side in front of a full house at Anfield once more.

City secured their first win at Anfield since 2003 last season when they won 4-1 in front of an empty crowd en route to a Premier League title triumph.

That game was in the middle of a six-game losing streak for Liverpool at home, which was the first time in club history they had ever lost as many successive matches at Anfield.

After blasting in 20 goals across three competitions in September, however, the Premier League leaders enter the game as the form side in the country having not lost in 18 games dating back to March.

Klopp said: "We've scored 20 goals in September!? Oh! I didn't know that. It doesn't always feel like that but thank you for telling me.

"We play against Manchester City on Sunday so I don't think it makes too much sense about how many goals we can score against them.

"We need a complex and a complete performance to have a chance.

"But I am really looking forward to it, I am really looking forward to playing at home again (against City) after a while.

"We have to work hard and we have to work hard in all the games. Like tonight, last Saturday (against Brentford), it is always really tough.

"But now we have two days more [rest] until the Man City game and that will be helpful. We will be fresh again and then we will give it a go, that is it."

Klopp was speaking after his side hammered Porto 5-1 at Estadio do Dragao to move up to six points at the top of Champions League Group B.

City, meanwhile, lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital and Klopp is expecting a response from Guardiola's side.

He added: "Against City [the Porto performance] doesn't help us a lot and we need more than momentum.

"We will need to play better on Sunday and Man City will want to strike back after the PSG result.

"But we're at home with fans, so let's give it a go."
