Liverpool may finally be set to get rid of Loris Karius after the goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from the club.
Karius, 28, has not played a competitive game for Liverpool since his Champions League final nightmare in 2018.
Following that night in Kiev, Liverpool headed straight for the transfer market, and just two months later, Alisson Becker arrived from Roma in a deal worth £56million.
According to German outlet Kicker, Karius’ Liverpool nightmare could soon finally be over with Greuther Furth reportedly interested in bringing him back to Germany.
Widely regarded as the worst team in any major league in Europe, Furth have just four points in the Bundesliga so far this season.
Furth had registered just a single point from 14 Bundesliga matches until Sunday brought a much-needed 1-0 win over Union Berlin.
Karius has in recent seasons had loan spells at Besiktas and Union, but the goalkeeper has been back at Liverpool this season.
The newly-promoted side are leaking an average of more than three goals a game after having conceded 46 times in 15 matches.

To make matters worse, injuries to first-choice Marius Funk and now back-up Sascha Burchert leaves them down to the bare bones on the goalkeeping front.
Furth will be needing nothing short of a miracle if they are to remain in the division next season and they will be hoping the signing of Karius would help them along the way.
Current boss Stefan Leitl was recently asked about the signing of Karius, to which he replied: “He’s undoubtedly a very, very good goalkeeper. But I’m not involved in names or speculation.”
Karius has little more than six months remaining on his current deal at Anfield, meaning the German goalkeeper will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with another club from next month onwards.

It looked as if the 28-year-old might make a permanent home for himself in Turkey with Besiktas after establishing himself as the club’s No 1 goalkeeper, but no such move materialised.
There was no such joy in the previous campaign at Union, where Karius was second choice goalkeeper.
Karius subsequently returned from the German capital this season after making a disappointing five appearances in total for Union.
Following his return to Anfield, Karius is now viewed as the fourth-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson, Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher.
In the meantime, Klopp’s Liverpool will be focusing their attention on their Premier League contest against Newcastle on Thursday at Anfield.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle will be desperate for a result after they were thumped 4-0 by Leicester last time out.
Klopp’s side come into the game after recording their seventh victory on the bounce against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, with little more than 20 minutes to go.
Liverpool are up to second in the table, four points behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with a game in hand.
