Jurgen Klopp explains why Roberto Firmino absent from Liverpool squad against Huddersfield

Jurgen Klopp has explained why Roberto Firmino has been left out of Liverpool's matchday squad.

The Reds face Huddersfield at Anfield tonight looking for three points in order to return to the top of the Premier League and put the pressure on Manchester City.

The most notable absentee from the squad was Firmino and now the German manager has revealed why he was not selected.

“Actually, yesterday after training he mentioned a little muscle issue,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“We assess it obviously. It’s not a big thing but was enough to leave him out today, that’s all.”

The Brazilian frontman was replaced by Daniel Sturridge in the stating XI while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returns to the squad for the first time since April last year.

Liverpool are set to face Barcelona in the Champions League next week.
