Jurgen Klopp explains why he's so happy with Timo Werner's Liverpool comments

Jurgen Klopp admitted he was pleased to hear of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner's admiration of the club as the prolific forward continues to be linked with a move to Anfield.

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form this season, scoring 21 goals in 23 games in the Bundesliga.

He has a release clause of just £50m, which one of the elite clubs is almost certain to pay this summer.

When asked about Liverpool following Leipzig's victory over Tottenham last week, Werner said: "Jurgen Klopp is the best coach in the world.

"There is a lot to suggest that my style of play would suit there [Liverpool]."

But speaking ahead of the Reds' game against Watford on Saturday, Klopp refused to give anything away regarding a potential swoop for the player.

"I prefer that when players speak about us they are positive, rather than saying 'that's the last club I would ever go to'," Klopp said.

"From that point of view it's obviously nice, but that's all- there's nothing else to say about it."

Liverpool have already raided Leipzig in the past, signing Naby Keita from the German side in 2018, and there seems a strong possibility they will do so again to bring in Werner in the summer.

The Reds will look to move to within nine points of sealing the title when they take on the Hornets, and Klopp provided some good news with an update on his injured players, saying a number of them could be back in time for their FA Cup tie against Chelsea next week.

"Hendo (Jordan Henderson) is running, Milly (James Milner) is running even more. Not enough for this game, but we will see, especially with Milly, what we can do for Tuesday.

"Not sure about Hendo, and Shaq (Xherdan Shaqiri) not yet, but they are all coming closer."
