Jurgen Klopp explains what makes up Liverpool's "secret sauce" ahead of Atalanta test

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool's "secret sauce" can help them overcome adversity as they bid to reach the Champions League knockout stages at the earliest opportunity.

The Reds can book their passage to the last-16 with two matches to spare with victory over Atalanta at Anfield on Wednesday.

But Klopp must continue to successfully juggle the plethora of injuries hampering his squad, as several key stars remain sidelined.

The mini crisis has not put Liverpool off their stride just yet though, as Sunday's impressive beating of Leicester showed.

And Klopp was keen to reaffirm the vital role each member of his squad will play over the remainder of the campaign.

"It is so important that every player recognises their importance now and acts to look after themselves the best they can," Klopp said in his Liverpool programme notes. "In this season, more than any other, every member of our group will play a role if we are to achieve anything.

"It has always been the case with us, but the circumstances around us in this moment makes it even more so.

"As difficult as it has been recently, it does present an amazing opportunity. We saw in the performance against Leicester City just how determined and together we are. I saw a group who is full of courage and full of fight."

Veteran James Milner was singled out by Klopp for his "outstanding" performance - filling the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, before being moved into central midfield when Naby Keita limped off.

Klopp made particular note of Milner's post-match reference to the "overall contribution" of Liverpool's squad, even those who did not feature against the Foxes but will be involved in the coming fixtures.

What will the score between Liverpool and Atalanta be? Have your say below.

He continued: "We are going to need all our qualities from now until May. We will need to squeeze from ourselves more than we have ever done previously.

"I have complete faith in our group, from the most experienced player through to our youngest.

"Our performances so far, in the face of adversity, shows me these boys believe in what we do but more importantly they believe in each other. They trust each other. They are invested in each other.

"That can be our 'secret sauce'."
