Jurgen Klopp explains what he said to Roberto Firmino after late Liverpool winner

Jurgen Klopp says he was never concerned by Roberto Firmino's lack of goals after he headed Liverpool to a 2-1 win over Tottenham.

After Mohamed Salah's opener was cancelled out by Son Heung-min in the first half, it was left to Firmino to steal the show late on.

The Brazilian's stoppage-time winner was just his third of the season and both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have outscored the No.9 at Anfield over the past two seasons.

Klopp, though, says he hopes Firmino "never doubts himself" when a barren spell surfaces as he hailed the forward's all-round contribution to the Liverpool cause.

"I just hope he never doubts himself, there is so much talk about it but I just said 'Bobby, you've scored'," Klopp said.

"He scores goal and important ones for us. And it is not so much about who scores them because for us, the only thing that matters is the ball in the back of the net.

"For us it is about the way, how we get there, things like crossing, passing, finishing. But making runs to open up the gaps, they don't all see that.

"I understand that but I am not surprised that Bobby scores goals. I am happy that he scored tonight because it was very important for him as well but more for us.

"So, just, let's keep going."

With 2,000 supporters back at Anfield to witness a late winner, Klopp was asked if the game bore a resemblance to certain parts of last season.

The Liverpool boss admitted he could see similarities, even if he doesn't reflect too much on the title-winning campaign last time out.

He added: "It felt like it a little bit.

"I am not too much in last season anymore to be honest but I can understand people who think it was like last season.

"It was one of our best performances for a while, that is how it is. We've had a few like against Wolves, 10 days ago or whatever.

"That was a top game and we play football from time to time and that is why we have the amount of points we have."
