Jurgen Klopp explains surprise Liverpool squad inclusion for Barcelona and makes Rhian Brewster prediction

Jurgen Klopp sprung something of a surprise after including Rhian Brewster in Liverpool’s travelling squad for Wednesday’s clash with Barcelona.

It’ll be an even bigger surprise if the 19-year-old makes his Reds first-team debut in the Champions League semi-final first leg at the Camp Nou.

However, the German manager has been explaining why the teenage striker was included in the travelling party and believes next season will be Brewster's year.

“He is the next really exciting prospect,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com. “If you see him training… next season will be his season, his first real season.

Barcelona name Coutinho and Suarez in squad to face Liverpool - but there's one big absentee

“He is now physically an adult, he grew a lot, he worked a lot and the training session was, to be honest, pretty impressive.

“He is with us, he is our player and we want to have him around. In this case I thought, ‘Come on, it’s Barcelona, let’s give him a first sniff.’”
