Jurgen Klopp explains muted celebration to Liverpool winner against Tottenham

Anfield exploded when Liverpool snatched a 2-1 win over Tottenham with a stoppage time goal.

There were jubilant scenes as Toby Alderweireld bundled the ball into his own net to hand the Reds a crucial three points in the Premier League title race.

But manager Jurgen Klopp was noticeably calm at the moment his side celebrated a huge moment in their season.

Known for his passionate celebrations, Klopp simply stood in the dugout and calmly raised his arms in the air.

He's revealed the reason for his muted celebration and opened up on his thoughts after coming out on top following a lacklustre display by their high standards.

Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham: Five talking points as lady luck shines on Reds title bid

"I was relatively calm [after the winning goal] because it was a surprise, that situation. I saw the header and nothing else. I had no clue how the ball went in.

"City last year were champions and are still pretty good. We have to fight like crazy. The crowd was outstanding. They were really here to push us and at the end it helped.

"It is only positive. I said there are 500 ways to win a football game and today was slightly ugly. Who cares?"

"I am really happy we don't have any breaks now. We compete with the best team in world for one position and that is really hard."

Despite a muted celebration after the goal, Klopp was much more animated as he approached the Kop after the game and punched the air in delight.

The result moved the Reds back to the top of the Premier League table after they were leapfrogged by rivals Manchester City on Saturday.
