Jurgen Klopp drops hint on his plan for Takumi Minamino at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp isn't planning to change the shape of his high-flying Liverpool team to incorporate new January signing Takumi Minamino.

Instead, the Liverpool boss believes the Japanese forward is tailor made to represent the Reds team he has assembled, and has the ability to make an immediate impact.

Liverpool beat bitter rivals Manchester United to Minamino's signature after learning of his affordable £7.25million release clause and putting up the cash.

The 24-year-old will link up with his new Liverpool team-mates as soon as the transfer window opens in January, and Klopp is planning to incorporate him straight into this Reds team.

"It's not reshaping, but Taki is for sure a player who can help us immediately in the short term and the long term, from an age perspective," Klopp told ESPN.

"He's already really good. Everyone could see when we played Salzburg. But still [there is] potential there to become even better.

"It's not a competition, it's just to have different options in different moments and the door is wide open that Taki can come in the team."

Minamino's transfer to Liverpool was confirmed this week.

He said: "It has been a dream, my dream to become a Liverpool player. And I'm so excited that the moment has come true. I've known about it for a while."

On hitting the ground running at Liverpool, he added: "Once I'm part of the team, from the moment I’m given the chance to play I'm intending to make a contribution to this team. For me to be able to do that I’m going to do my very best."
