Jurgen Klopp dismisses Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacking question with Man Utd statement

Jurgen Klopp snubbed commenting on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being sacked by Manchester United, saying: "I'm not prepared for that question!"

Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday morning following Manchester United's heavy 4-1 defeat by Watford the day before.

The Norwegian was already skating on thin ice going into the game following embarrassing displays against rivals Man City and Liverpool, who battered the Red Devils 2-0 and 5-0 respectively.

Mauricio Pochettino is now favourite to replace Solskjaer in the hot seat while Michael Carrick has been put in temporary charge.

Klopp was asked for his thoughts on the sacking in his Tuesday press conference ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash with Porto, and whether he feels there will be a lot of pressure on the next boss.

He responded: "I'm not prepared for that question, haven't thought about Man United for a second. Sorry."

Solskjaer took the opportunity to send a message to the United fans following his dismissal on Sunday, with a final interview being posted to the club's official website.

In it, Solskjaer said: "Some have come, some have gone, but all of them, they've been such an enjoyable bunch to work with.

"First of all, I want to thank the board and the owners for giving me the opportunity because it’s not for everyone and I've had the opportunity.

"I am so honoured and privileged to have been trusted to take the club forward and I really hope I leave it in a better state when I came. I made great friends, I have reconnected with some great friends and new staff coming in.

"The other stuff that was already here we've been good friends and we've connected. That's what it's about at a club like this with the fans. The fans have been amazing from day one at Cardiff until now so, top, and we'll see each other again."
