Jurgen Klopp discusses Liverpool's "massive achievement" after 'depressing' season

Jurgen Klopp insists guiding Liverpool into the top four would be one of the biggest achievements of his career.

The Reds suffered a huge midseason dip in form which saw them go from title challenges to top four hopefuls.

A host of injuries played a huge part in their drop off with Klopp having to deal without three of his recognised centre-halves.

Now though, after several crucial wins and their rivals slipping up, Liverpool are again poised to qualify for the Champions League.

Klopp has claimed that the story of their season is certainly a "depressing" one but would rank finishing in the top four among his biggest moments.

"Massive, absolutely massive. It will be one of the biggest achievements, ever," he told Sky Sports.

"I know how that sounds but it's the truth. Everybody here sees it like that.

"If you are going to write a book about a season and you want to be depressed afterwards, you would probably take this season.

"You read it and then think, 'that happened, and then that happened.' Most of the things you would never get in public, it's just that we had a lot of things to deal with.

"But, here we are. Whatever happened this year, it gave us the chance to hold our destiny in our hands with two games [to go.]"

Liverpool head to Burnley on Wednesday before playing Crystal Palace at Anfield on the final day of the season.

Maximum points from their remaining two games is likely to be enough with third-placed Leicester taking on fourth-placed Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The Reds found themselves in eighth place after losing to Fulham on March 7 but have gone unbeaten in their eight games since, winning six of those.
