Jurgen Klopp details Neco Williams talks amid recent Liverpool struggles

Jurgen Klopp has opened up over personal talks he has had with Neco Williams at Liverpool.

It comes after social media abuse followed some of his performances at right-back since filling in for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The England international is out injured and the Reds do not have a senior replacement, other than Joe Gomez who is also out crocked.

It has seen Williams called up to the first-team despite being just 19 and made six Premier League appearances last season.

But there have been some teething problems as he adjusts to Liverpool's high-octane style of play.

Nevertheless, at such a young age and for such a prestigious club, this is expected.

However, the Wales international has been the victim of some sickening social media abuse and Klopp has revealed all on a chat he had with the teenager.

He said: "We had a long talk this week.

"We both know he has so much in the locker than he's showed so far. But that's exactly the situation.

"So when is the right moment for a young boy to come in?

"When the season start, a really difficult summer with lockdown and nobody knowing if we can go on again, then a short pre-season, then all of a sudden Trent is out with Covid.

"He has to play early, then he's not in the best shape in that moment, all players have these moments.

"You're on the big stage it's not easy. Tonight he showed glimpses. He can be so much better. Tonight he showed it's all good."

Former Liverpool star Adam Lallana has leapt to William's defence, blasting 'keyboard warriors' for getting on the youngster's back.

“I came across it on my own socials that he took a bit of stick,” the 32-year-old told the Between The Lines podcast. “It was such ridiculous scrutiny and opinions from these keyboard warriors.

“This is a young lad that is learning. Of course, you're going to have some bad moments in games.

“To see a young lad coming through at a top level for a top team having to feel like he has deactivate or whatever, it’s just sad, isn't it?

“You can have one average game and then all the keyboard warriors are out. He is a young boy still, so he is not going to be used to reading things like that."
