Jurgen Klopp details his reaction at home to Vincent Kompany screamer against Leicester

Jurgen Klopp has revealed how he reacted to Vincent Kompany's screamer for Manchester City against Leicester - which ultimately won the Blues the title.

Liverpool were praying City would slip up in the season's penultimate game and would have held the advantage in the title race going into the last weekend had Pep Guardiola's side failed to score.

But Kompany hit a 25-yard screamer late in the game to give City the win and they retained the title by beating Brighton at the Amex on the final day.

And Klopp revealed that - after being persuaded to watch the game by his wife - he started hoping 'second by second' before Kompany's crucial intervention.

"This screamer against Leicester, it was...I can't tell you," said the German.

"But the next day we play against Barcelona so the day was full of training and preparing for that game. So I get home and my Mrs told me 'come on we watch the game'.

"And I was like 'oh. I'm not sure'. But I watched it and I was on my sofa and both hands were in my left pocket and right pocket and if somebody would have measured my heart rate... really the whole season was completely fine.

"I thought, 'anyway they win' - as they did all the time.

"But in this game, second by second by second I started hoping. And then when I saw Leicester getting tired - I was really angry with them.

"And then Kompany, like he didn't all season, scores from outside the box. The first goal like this, right? A good moment."

Liverpool and City both enjoyed incredible winning runs to end the season - and Klopp's opposite number Guardiola revealed the feeling the German had on that night was replicated by him several times in the run-in.

"What Jurgen doesn't know is what he felt about the Vincent Kompany goal I felt every week when he is scoring in the last minutes every time," said the Blues boss.

"Every time I'm there 'this time', 'this time'. But it never happens."
