Jurgen Klopp delivers verdict on Emre Can transfer after Tottenham and Arsenal January links

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has issued his verdict on Emre Can's move from Juventus to Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.

The former Reds midfielder struggled for game time under Maurizio Sarri and was surplus to requirements at the Allianz Stadium.

Can was heavily linked with a return to the Premier League, with both Tottenham and Arsenal attributed with interest in the Germany international.

Eventually though, Can sealed a loan move to Dortmund, ending a nightmare 18 months in Turin, and the move will become permanent in the summer if specific parameters are met.

Premier League top scorer: Who leads the race for the golden boot?

Can spent four years at Liverpool, scoring 14 goals in 166 appearances, and found his most impressive form at Anfield under Klopp.

And his former boss has now given his view on the transfer, and described the deal as a 'perfect match' for both parties.

"I am happy for BVB and Emre Can. It's a win-win situation. Emre is just a perfect match for this club," Klopp said to Bild.

"BVB got a top lad, a wonderful, versatile footballer with an outstanding attitude.

"I trust them to achieve a lot in the Ruckrunde (second half of the season) with Can and Haaland."
