Chelsea are not interested in signing Thiago Alcantara this summer, but Liverpool haven't ruled out a move for the Spanish star.
The Bayern Munich midfielder looks set to leave Germany this summer after winning the Champions League for the second time in his career.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the 29-year-old as well as Manchester United.
Despite his availability for around £27million and Frank Lampard wanting to sign another central midfielder with Declan Rice linked, Chelsea are not interested.
That's according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who said on Twitter: "Chelsea have not made any contact for Thiago Alcantara – just to be clear.
“Manchester United had a contact with his agent days ago but have not started any official talk with Bayern Münich.
“So quiet atm. And Jurgen Klopp would love to have Thiago as new #LFC signing.”
Thiago has been with Bayern Munich since his 2013 switch from Barcelona.
Since then, he and Bayern have gone on to win seven league titles, four domestic crowns, a Champions League and a Club World Cup.
Thiago is now looking for a new adventure, and it seems Liverpool is his most likely destination, though Jurgen Klopp wouldn't be drawn on talk.
“If I invented a word that would end speculation, I could become really rich," he said in his press conference on Friday. "I can’t end speculation as long as the transfer window is open.
“Thiago Alcantara is a really good player. It’s nice we are linked with him but that’s pretty much all really.
“He’s a good player, Liverpool is a big club, so it’s nice, but apart from that, I’ve got nothing to say. Unfortunately, I cannot end the speculation.”
