Jurgen Klopp delivers sucker punch for Leeds United with latest on Ryan Kent move

The chances of Leeds United signing reported target Ryan Kent from Liverpool now look far slimmer, following an interview with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Ryan Kent is the sole remaining name of four summer transfer targets for the Whites - with Leeds looking to sign him on loan for the upcoming season.

The winger has been on tour with Liverpool in the USA, filling a spot in the squad while the more established, international stars enjoy delayed close-season breaks.

Kent was missed out of the team to play Napoli at the weekend, suggesting an exit from Anfield could well be on the cards - though it turns out he didn't feature because of illness .

But now Klopp has confirmed that if Kent does leave the club, it WON'T be on loan because 'it is too late' and is 'not planned'.

He had originally been linked with move back to Rangers where he spent last season.

Of the player's time at the Ibrox, Klopp said: “It helped a lot. He came back a completely a different player.

“It was a very important year. It helped, good club, good manager and means good competition.

“Exactly the right thing for him at the right moment.

“But going back? (Only) If Rangers can buy him."

Speaking about the possibility of a loan move for Kent, Klopp added:

"The time is over giving him on loan.

“At a specific age, a player needs to find a place to settle and stuff like this. But we will see. A loan is not planned.”
