Jurgen Klopp delivers Mohamed Salah fitness update as Liverpool gear up for Merseyside derby return

Jurgen Klopp has yet to rule out Mohamed Salah ahead of this weekend's Merseyside derby with Everton.

Liverpool return to action on Sunday evening when they travel to Goodison Park for the 236th meeting between the two historic rivals.

Victory for Klopp's runaway Premier League leaders will leave them needing a further three points from the final eight games to wrap up a first title in 30 years.

However the inclusion of both Salah and Andy Robertson had been in question after they sat out last Thursday's 6-0 hammering of Blackburn Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Robertson was part of the pack that trained on Wednesday but Salah was not pictured taking part at Melwood as Klopp ran through some preparations ahead of Liverpool's first match in over three months.

Klopp, though, has said that no player is currently "ruled out for Sunday" meaning Salah and Robertson are in line for selection against Carlo Ancelotti's Blues.

Klopp said:“We had the normal things, I would say, after a long break, but I am not sure it has anything to do with that.

"It was just that we trained and things can happen and we played as well and things can happen. In the moment, nobody really is ruled out for Sunday, but we have to see.

“A few trained more, a few trained less, most trained all [sessions], so that’s good news and in the end we will have a good team on the pitch, 100 per cent.”

Manchester City reduced the gap at the top to 22 points on Wednesday evening as their first match since mid-March ended with a 3-0 win at home to Arsenal.

However, six points from the Reds' last nine games will be enough for a maiden Premier League crown and first championship for three decades.
