Jurgen Klopp 'decides' to move for £53m Mohamed Salah 'replacement' at Liverpool

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.

The majority of the transfer rumours surrounding the Reds have been mainly focused on the potential arrival of new midfielders. The likes of Jude Bellingham, Matheus Nunes and Moises Caicedo are the players whose names have been associated with a possible move to Anfield.

However, it’s a forward which has appeared in the latest piece of speculation on the Liverpool rumour mill. Reports have claimed that the club are looking at the possibility of making a move for Chiesa.

According to Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato, the Reds are looking at the possibility of signing Chiesa in the summer. It has been claimed that Liverpool view Chiesa as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, with Jurgen Klopp ‘deciding’ to make a move for the Italian.

A fee in the region of €‎60m (£53m) has been quoted as what Juve would demand before allowing Chiesa to leave the club. Liverpool were linked with Chiesa in the summer of 2021 following an impressive Euro 2020 campaign with Italy, but since then rumours surrounding his future have been relatively quiet.

Given that Salah only signed a new contract with the club last summer, which runs until 2025, you would think it unlikely that Liverpool would sanction the exit of their star forward anytime soon. The Egyptian has been linked with an exit in the past, but those rumours were put to bed when he signed his new deal.
