Jurgen Klopp confirms Mohamed Salah plan and dismisses Liverpool contract concerns

Jurgen Klopp revealed Mohamed Salah will start Liverpool's FA Cup visit to Manchester United as he dismissed suggestions the forward's uncertain future could prove a distraction.

Salah was used from the bench as the Reds' 68-game unbeaten Premier League run at Anfield came to an end on Thursday evening courtesy of a 1-0 defeat to Burnley.

The Egyptian had started Liverpool's last five fixtures during another busy post-Christmas run but was restricted to a half-hour-long appearance against the Clarets.

He is, however, in line for an immediate return to the starting line-up on Sunday as Klopp's side take on their bitter rivals in a mouthwatering cup clash at Old Trafford.

Asked about that possibility, the German said: "Yes, it makes it absolutely likely that Mo will start. I don't think that is a massive secret."

Klopp also went on to address the ongoing speculation over Salah, whose contract will have two years remaining at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old spoke out again regarding his future this week, but Klopp isn't concerned that the story could eventually impact on the team's performances.

"I don't think so," he replied to one such suggestion. That's a normal thing as well in the world of football.

"It's not that we go out and talk about things we think are important, it's pretty rare. But we get asked questions and we answer and that's the story and [it looks like] we started the conversation.

"In most cases, it's not like that. No, I don't think it will disrupt the season."
