Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool's Naby Keita suffered injury against Arsenal

Liverpool will assess Naby Keita after the midfielder had to be replaced after half-time as he suffering an injury during the Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal .

Keita was replaced by 18-year-old Curtis Jones shortly after half-time, with Jones eventually going on to score the winning penalty in the shootout after a thrilling 90 minutes ended 5-5.

Keita has had a tough time with injuries already during his spell at Anfield, and the 24-year-old missed the end of last season and the start of the current campaign after rupturing a tendon during the first-leg Champions League loss to Barcelona in May.

It is not yet clear how serious the knock he picked up against Chelsea is, and speaking after the game Jurgen Klopp refused to give much away.

"If Naby's injury is not so serious, which I hope, then it was a nearly perfect night," Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com .

"He felt a little bit. I saw it, he slipped when he lost the ball. Afterwards he was limping a little bit and he said it was 'ugh'. Hopefully it's not too serious. We'll see."

Keita has only made five appearances for the Reds so far this season, and has played just eight minutes of Premier League football.

The withdrawal of Keita did allow Jones to become the hero when he tucked away the winning penalty, but Klopp admitted that he did not decide that the youngster should take the decisive spot-kick .

"Jones, it was not my decision in the end for him to take the last penalty," he said. "When I saw the list Origi was the taker of the last one and they changed it obviously.

"Curtis has no issues with self-confidence. I'm pleased for Caoimhin (Kelleher) saving the pen, I'm pleased for Neco (Williams) setting up the goal for Div."
