Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool injury boost with absent quartet all "in a good way"

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that four of his injured Liverpool stars are in a "good way" as he continues his recovery from injury.

Joe Gomez has been absent since November but is progressing nicely ahead of a return to the first team.

He is one of several absentees with Liverpool battling a huge injury list this season.

Fellow defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip have both been missing, the former since October, which has tested the Reds' resources.

Jordan Henderson underwent groin surgery at the end of February, but Klopp is upbeat about the aforementioned quartet's recovery.

He said when quizzed on Gomez's fitness: "No real reaction in the knee, he is running. He is in a good way like Virg and Joel and Hendo."

With so many absentees Liverpool have been forced to seek makeshift solutions at the back.

Ozan Kabak, who was signed from Schalke in January, has formed a partnership with Nathaniel Phillips at the heart of defence.

Klopp is pleased with how their relationship has developed.

He said: "It's good. Things have to develop, players have to get used to each other.

"There was never a question about quality. Ozan and Nat have done really well. Hopefully it will stay like this."

Liverpool have only conceded once in their last three league games as they continue to mount a late charge for the top four.

Their next assignment is a trip to Elland Road to face a Leeds side who they beat on the opening day of the season.

The Whites upset Manchester City in their last outing, but Klopp claims there wasn't much to learn tactically due to the nature of the game.

He said: "They were down to 10 early on so there's not a lot to take in terms of tactics (for Monday) but they had big character. With the passion they showed they deserved the win."
