Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool FC injury boost for Manchester United game

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Fabinho and Joel Matip are fit to face Manchester United at the weekend with both players set to be included in the squad.

Fabinho has been out of action since suffering damaged ankle ligaments during the Champions League fixture against Napoli in November while Matip has been sidelined since the reverse fixture against United in December.

Both players returned to first-team training this week but there was still doubt as to whether they'd feature against United.

Klopp confirmed that he expects both players to be part of the match day squad at Anfield.

"They trained completely normal yesterday and the day before," he said during his pre-match press conference.

"That means they are likely to be in the squad."

Liverpool won't have Dejan Lovren, James Milner and Naby Keita available this weekend as they continue to recover from problems suffered over the festive period.

He added: "They are getting closer and closer. Dejan I think will train 100% from Monday on.

“With the other two I don't exactly. We can't rush it. When they are ready we take them back in training."

United have an injury concern of their own with Marcus Rashford a doubt after being substituted in mid-week with a back problem.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful he can recover to feature at Anfield.

"I can't tell you now," Solskjaer said. "As I said with Harry [Maguire] a few weeks ago, of course we're going to give him the absolute amount of time to find out. We'll do some more checks and treatment with him today, yesterday, of course, was just a recovery day and some treatment for him. I've not see him this morning.

"I'm not going to hold my breath. I would probably think he wouldn't be ready but let's see. it's 48 hours [away], more than that, so let's see."
