Jurgen Klopp admitted Liverpool have lost an 'incredibly important' member of their backroom team after performance analyst Mark Leyland departed for Newcastle United.
Leyland had been with Liverpool since 2013 but reunited with Eddie Howe at St. James' Park after the pair worked together at Burnley.
Klopp agreed with the suggestion his exit gives Newcastle additional insight into the Liverpool camp ahead of facing the Magpies on Thursday.
But the boss revealed the club were happy to allow 36-year-old Leyland to take the 'next step in his career'.

Klopp said: "Mark was here longer than I was here and was an incredibly important member of our staff with his post-match analysis and the individual work he did with the players.
"He was a top guy on top of that, but he had a chance to get a more senior role at Newcastle which we couldn't offer here.
"He was eager to make next step in his career."
Liverpool manager Klopp also claimed 'there are not too many secrets' about the way Liverpool will set-up, limiting the advantage Leyland could gain for his new employers.
Klopp continued: "We could have said [to Leyland], 'You can only start in three or four weeks' or all these kinds of things but in this football world everybody knows everything anyway.
"Mark doesn't know our line up for tomorrow but he knows football. Anybody with a football brain knows how we play football. There are not too many secrets anymore.
"We were happy to let him use this opportunity. Good people should be treated in a good way and that is what we did with Mark."
