Jurgen Klopp confirms hilarious story about his Cristiano Ronaldo pants

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the hilarious story about him wearing Cristiano Ronaldo-branded underpants was true, adding that he "pulled them very far up to under the nipples" to make his Liverpool players laugh.

Reds midfielder Gini Wijnaldum recently recounted the tale about Klopp seeking to ease the tension on his squad ahead of the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid , a match which proved to be Ronaldo's final one for the Spanish giants.

“He did the meeting with his shirt stuffed inside his ‘CR7’ boxers," said Wijnaldum .

Liverpool would go on to lose the Kiev final 3-1, but they bounced back a year later and lifted the trophy following a 2-0 win over Tottenham in Madrid.

Following that victory, Klopp was honoured in his native Germany by being named as Bild's Coach of the Year, after which he confirmed that Wijnaldum's story was true.

"That's true...some years ago when I was buying underpants, I simply grabbed the Ronaldo shelf," he said .

"I still have them, but I have not worn them since the finals.

"During the final I deliberately wore it and during the session deliberately pulled them very far up to under the nipples. That was funny, looked funny."

Klopp, who has three years remaining on his Liverpool contract, added that he isn't sure whether he'll carry on in football after the end of his current deal.

"I hope for now that the next two or three years will continue in the same way and then I will decide," he said .

"Everything is possible. So I could stop completely, that is possible. Whether that is the case or not - I really do not know.

"I'm just saying that so you will not be surprised if it happens."
