Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold for the mouth-watering fixture against Manchester City.
The 22-year-old England international was a notable absentee as the Reds clocked up an eye-catching victory over Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Veteran midfielder James Milner deputised in Portugal after Alexander-Arnold picked up a muscle problem.
Already expected to miss the Super Sunday showdown with Premier League champions City at Anfield, the right-back has, subsequently, been given 'no chance' of making a surprise return to the line-up.
Alexander-Arnold has played 185 games for his hometown club since progressing through the Liverpool ranks.
He won't be the only first-team player in the stands for that crunch meeting with City - with Klopp also confirming that former Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara (calf) will miss out.
Both players are expected to return to contention after the upcoming international break.
When asked if the Liverpool duo would feature, Klopp simply told the LFC website: "No. No news means they are doing well, but they won't have enough time for being back against City - but I expect them both to be back after the international break.
"We have a good team so we still have solutions and we have to use them and yeah, after the international break, the boys will be back I think."
