Jurgen Klopp confident Liverpool can cope without Roberto Firmino vs Watford

Jurgen Klopp is confident Liverpool will be able to cope should Roberto Firmino be absent for tomorrow's meeting with Watford.

The Reds lost their No.9 in the opening minutes of a goalless draw at Old Trafford on Sunday, but could welcome him back when Javi Gracia's side visit Anfield.

If that is not the case, however, Klopp believes the likes of Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri are more than capable of plugging the gap.

Asked what might happen if Firmino is not available, the German replied: “Somebody else will play!

“That’s the nature of playing for a club like Liverpool. You have a few players that don’t have 500,000 minutes before they start the next game, but they still have a lot of quality.

“If we have to change a few things, we will change. We changed a couple of things during the season, but obviously Bobby was pretty much always involved.

"That’s not the case this time, but we have the options which we will choose for the start, one of them and maybe during the game a second one.

“If there’s anything good in [the situation] it’s that Watford have no clue what we will do, so we will not talk about that.”

Liverpool's draw with Manchester United saw them retake the lead in the Premier League title race, though their advantage at the summit has reduced from five points to just one since the start of February.

Klopp believes the panic instigated by that slight dip in form owes much to a lack of experience in winning leagues both among fans and local media.

“We don’t have to look that far [ahead]. With you as well, you are obviously not that experienced in winning titles," he added.

"Do you go to United and City press conferences as well? Who goes to all of them?

“Right, so you are here for Liverpool, so you are not that experienced in winning the league as well. Sorry to say that but it’s true.

“It’s so positive, and if you now only judge the moment and see the opportunity then everything is fine. But if you always look one week back, two weeks back, three weeks back, where we drop points or we concede goals, and you talk like we have to win instead of we can win, then that makes life a little bit more uncomfortable.

“For a lot of supporters it would be the first time in their life that they are champions, and for a lot of my players as well. It’s a pure opportunity, a pure opportunity, and you have to use it on the front foot.

“You never win a game without defending, being completely focused. When we win games 3 or 4-0, we defended outstandingly well, and we scored. That’s the only thing we have to make sure we can feel, and can use. It’s an opportunity.”
