Jurgen Klopp clashes with Roy Keane as Liverpool boss bites back in frosty on-air exchange

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp clashed with Roy Keane in a frosty on-air exchange following his side's win over Arsenal.

Klopp railed against the former Manchester United captain's claim his team were sloppy in their 3-1 victory.

Goals from Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and debutant Diogo Jota overturned Alexandre Lacazette's opener in an entertaining contest at Anfield.

Keane heaped praise on Liverpool post-match but suggested Klopp would be disappointed by how his team gave up good chances to the Gunners in the second half.

Lacazette squandered two glaring opportunities as Arsenal chased an equaliser, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could've scored late on.

Klopp, waiting pitchside for an interview, overheard part of Keane's assessment and the Liverpool manager immediately bit back.

Klopp said: "Did I hear right that Mr Keane said we had a sloppy performance tonight?

"Did he say that?"

Keane replied: "I think they gave up one or two opportunities they'll be disappointed with."

But Klopp wasn't having it and said: "How can he say this was a sloppy performance tonight?

"I'm not sure if I heard it right, maybe he's talking about another game. It cannot be this game, sorry.

"That's an incredible description of this game.

"This was absolutely exceptional. Nothing was sloppy, absolutely nothing.

"From the first second we were dominant, against a team in-form, 100 per cent in form."

Keane then attempted to clarify what he said: ""I think you must have misheard me.

"I said there were sloppy moments but I think you have been outstanding,

"I have been giving the club nothing but praise. So I'm not sure you heard me correctly there.""

Host Dave Jones steered Klopp onto other subjects but Keane wanted the last word when cameras returned to the studio.

He said: "Very sensitive, isn't he? Imagine if he'd lost."
